| It is with great sadness we must report Flossie the Hamster passed away peacefully in her sleep tonight, August 17th, 2002.
Flossie began her life as a cherished pet in a Montessori classroom, where she thoroughly enjoyed herself and the company of small children. We knew Flossie was special; however, the growth of an enormous tumor on her tush proved just how extraordinary she really was. Flossie's tumor was removed almost one year ago, and despite her advanced age and frailty she recovered beautifully (although her rear quarters were bald to the end!) Flossie spent her remaining months with her friend Eleanor, who surrounded Flossie with love and comfort. Flossie's favorite activity was to run madly on her wheel - she even managed to run (sort of) with an e-collar in place! But Flossie's most profound characteristic is that she truly loved and trusted people in return - her courage and open heart were inspirational and will be greatly missed. |
